I cannot seem to find any history of the top tube pads however I believe that it started up back in the 80’ies when it was used on BMX bikes. Today it has evolved to be a cool accessory on the simple city bikes or racing bikes.

The purposes of the Top Tube Bike:

Originally: to protect important body parts when riding BMX.

Today: it is primarily a cool bike accessory.

To argue that you have actually spent time, energy and money to get it; it protects the frame when locking bicycle to a pole.

My Race Babe

This is my race baby – I got him exactly a year ago today and I have ridden him approximately 5.000 kilometers this first year (8 month riding). He is a real ROI since I have already saved approximately 8.000 DKK. in transports by riding him and he cost me 7.000 DKK.

I really love this guy – but after a year looking at him – it’s about time to pimp him a bit – he needs som accessories :-)
